The men’s book group was formed in March 2019 and still retains most of the original members. At first, we met in different homes but during Covid started meeting in the pub under the “eat out to help out“ scheme.
The group liked the idea of a pub lunch with a drink whilst discussing the chosen book and so this has been the format. We meet on a Monday every six weeks or so with each member taking turns to put forward their book choices for the rest of the group to choose and read. We discuss and score the book for enjoyment and literary merit over a light lunch. The advantage of a small group around a pub table is that everyone can be heard.
A few men have asked to join the group. Rather than have a waiting list, I have suggested setting up a second men’s book group. Anyone interested please contact me, John Unterhalter, on 01565 873211.
